  • he Vivo V40’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 delivers great performance, with an AnTuTu score of 8,14,471, which is good for a phone who targets camera.
  • For BGMI, smooth casual gameplay requires a score above 7 lakh atleast, and the Vivo V40 comfortably exceeds this mark. It runs popular games like BGMI, gives good experience (tested at 60fps).
  • The VC cooling system also helps keep the processor cool and enhances its performance

This review analyzes specifications and tests gaming at 60fps to help you decide if the Vivo V40 is the right choice for you.

RAM – LPDDR4X

The Vivo V40 comes with LPDDR4X RAM, which is not impressive for this price range. Higher RAM types consume less energy and offer better power-saving capabilities, ensuring smooth multitasking and app switching.

Storage – UFS 2.2

The Vivo V40 is equipped with UFS 2.2 storage, which is somewhat disappointing given its price point. It should be UFS 3.1.

While file transfers, copying and pasting, and downloading are adequate, the 5G download speeds don’t perform as well as expected.

Vivo V40 – Antutu and Geekbench Scores

  • Antutu score – 814,471
  • Geekbench Single-core score – 1,164
  • Geekbench Multi-core score – 3,216
  • CPU Throttling – 89% of peak performance

These Geekbench and AnTuTu scores indicate average performance for a mobile phone at this price.

To understand its performance during longer session we do CPU throttling test where it scores 89℅ which is impressive, it indicates it can handle heavy task during longer session with smooth performance.

Gameplay

During a one-hour BGMI session on the Vivo V40, I experienced smooth performance with the ‘Smooth + Extreme’ settings, offering up to 60fps.

  • It gives smooth experience where it gives frame rate between 55 and 60fps during TDM matches. And between 50 and 60fps in classic games like Erangel, Sanhok, and Livik.
  • Occasionally, frame rates dipped below 50fps, especially during jumps and hot drops. Despite these fluctuations, the phone quickly returned to smooth performance.
  • The 300Hz touch sampling rate provided a fantastic response time, especially during in-game firing.
  • The battery drained by 17% after an hour of play, and the phone remained cool, even during intensive gaming sessions.

COD and Genshin Impact Settings

Call of Duty on the Vivo V40 runs smoothly at 60fps without noticeable frame drops. Genshin Impact also performs well at 40fps, with frame rates ranging from 35 to 40fps.
