In this blog, I am sharing my review and thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy A54 5g’s gaming performance after the 2024 one UI 6 update. I have used this phone after updating for a couple of days after the update and found many performance-related updates.
I have played heavy games multiple times, such as BGMI, PUBG, etc., and watched many YouTuber videos to make a conclusion on whether to buy this phone in the 2024 sale on Flipkart or Amazon. So, read the entire blog before buying this phone according to your requirements.
Hardware Review as per Gaming Performance Requirement
Samsung galaxy A54 5g Speaker
- The Samsung Galaxy A54 has dual speakers. It sounds clear and understandable.
- It also helps in gaming if you don’t have earbuds.
- With these speakers, you can play TDM and classic games for fun.
5G VoNR
The Samsung Galaxy A54 comes with good network connectivity coverage and has 5G compatibility.
- It comes with 5G VoNR for calling features, ensuring that your network does not change from 5G to 4G during incoming or outgoing calls.
- So, if you have good network coverage, the device will not disappoint you.
Samsung A54 Display
- It comes with a Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and Always-On display features.
- Samsung’s displays are one of the best, but we aren’t buying only for the display.
Graphic GPU
We need better graphics hardware, and the Samsung Galaxy A54 has Mali-G68 MP5.
- This GPU is capable of playing games at higher settings, but before the update, it didn’t have a significant impact, and now after updating, it supports higher settings.
- Below, you will find graphic settings for BGMI.
Peak Brightness
The Samsung A54 comes with 1000 nits peak brightness, so you will not be disappointed with brightness.
- You can easily play games and do other things outdoors.
- So, peak brightness will help give better visibility and enhance your Samsung Galaxy A54 gaming performance.
IP Rating
The Samsung Galaxy A54 comes with IP67 dust/water resistance (up to 1m for 30 min).
However, don’t try it, as if your device has any problems due to water, you will not get any warranty benefits.
Weight
- The Samsung Galaxy A54 weighs 202g. Honestly, gamers do not like any smartphone heavier than 200g.
- However, due to excellent weight balance, I did not notice any major issues.
- It is well balanced in terms of weight, and I can say it will increase Samsung Galaxy A54 gaming performance.
Processor Exynos
The Samsung Galaxy A54 comes with an Exynos 1380 5nm processor.
- Honestly, Exynos processors are not good for heavy gaming.
- This processor is good for daily tasks, multimedia, and casual gaming.
- Even after the 2024 update, when I played BGMI at higher settings, it didn’t maintain a consistent 60fps.
RAM
- The Samsung Galaxy A54 has LPDDR4X RAM, which is quite good.
- It helps with multitasking, app opening, background app opening, user interface, and more.
- This RAM is helpful for playing normal to moderate games.
- So, RAM performs well for Samsung Galaxy A54 gaming performance.
Storage – UFS 3.1
- The Samsung Galaxy A54 has UFS 3.1 storage, which is really great.
- File transfer, copy-paste, app opening, downloading, and transferring files from other devices through Nearby Share require good storage.
BGMI Setting
- After the 2024 One UI 6.1 update, BGMI (PUBG) runs on the Samsung Galaxy A54 with graphics settings of smooth + Extreme, balanced + Ultra, and HD + High available.
- HDR is not supported.
- It means now the Samsung A54 supports 60FPS, which is a big update for everyone who wants to buy the Samsung A54 phone.
- However, after playing many games, I realized that it does not consistently provide 60fps.
- It fluctuates and lags when fighting with 2-3 squads. Sometimes it is below 50fps,
- but normally it gives 55 to 60 fps smoothly.
- Samsung has to do some extra work for BGMI or PUBG for higher settings.
- Also, COD and Free Fire now have high graphics settings available.
- The gyroscope works well.
Hardware Scores for Samsung Galaxy A54 gaming performance
- Antutu Score: 509,330
- Single-Core Score: 1,007
- Multi-Core Score: 2,833
These are nice scores but not for a heavy gaming smartphone.
- The CPU is throttled to 83% of its maximum performance, which is good. So, the Galaxy A54 doesn’t have any throttling issues.
- When I played BGMI before this update, there was only a high frame rate (30FPS) option, making it feel like I was playing a game from 5 years ago.
- But now, after updating, it supports 60fps.
- Nowadays, gaming smartphones need more than a 700,000 Antutu score for smooth gameplay at balanced settings.
- After the 2024 update, I can say you will like this phone in every department.
Battery
- The battery plays a major role for every gamer.
- It comes with a 5000 mAh battery with a 25W charger (not in the box).
- You can play games non-stop for 4 hours and do any heavy tasks.
- The 25W charger takes 1.5 hours to fully charge, which is disappointing.
- For normal day-to-day life with social apps, it can last one day easily.
- So, in the battery department, it performs well and gives you long gameplay.
Conclusion
Why you should buy-
- After the update, I can say this phone now has everything for everyone.
- It has a good rear camera, best selfie camera, best portrait camera, big battery, superb display, best software & UI experience, and now, after the 2024 update, it provides a decent gaming experience.
- If you’re a Samsung phone lover, you can buy it when it’s available for below 30,000 during Flipkart or Amazon sales.
Why you shouldn’t buy-
- If you’re a perfect gamer and want a phone for game and performance-centric purposes, this phone is not for you.
- You will regret purchasing it.
The iQOO Neo 9 Pro is one of the best mid-range performance-centric phones nowadays for gamers.
I recommend it for normal gaming of BGMI because at this price, there are some phones that offer this level of camera quality.
In 2024, for gaming phones under 30,000, you can buy Motorola Edge 50 Pro 5G.
