Every smartphone gives different performance in real life. In this blog, I’m sharing gaming performance of the Google Pixel 8a after using it for a few days, doing heavy tasks, playing BGMI, PUBG, and sharing my thoughts. The Google Pixel 8a comes with top-level specifications for its price range.
Recently Google announced to launch Pixel 8a in India 14th May with the price of 52,999 rupees.
Hardware Review as per Gaming Performance Requirement
Speaker
The Google Pixel 8a has dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, which will help in gaming if you don’t have earphones or earbuds.
5g VoNR
- It comes with 5G VoNR, which is essential for calling features.
- Nowadays, without VoNR, you can’t make calls to anyone on a 5G network.
- If you’re using a 5G device, you may notice that whenever someone calls you, your network automatically converts to 4G. This can be frustrating, especially while playing games.
So, VoNR calling features and good network coverage boost your gaming performance on the Google 8a.

The Google Pixel 8a comes with a 120Hz AMOLED punch-hole display. It supports HDR10+.
It has good graphics, thanks to the Adreno™ 720 with 430 PPI. The 240 Hz touch sampling rate is okay for playing BGMI, and you can play HDR videos easily. It also comes with IP67 water and dust resistance.
Peak Brightness
The Pixel 8a has 1100 nits peak brightness, providing better visibility outdoors. We can play games and do other things outdoors easily. So, the 1100 peak brightness will help to give better visibility and enhance your Google Pixel 8a gaming performance.
Weight
The Google Pixel 8a weighs 188g. Honestly, gamers don’t like smartphones that weigh more than 200g. As it is on the lighter side, playing games is easy. When I was playing for one hour, I didn’t feel any pain in my hand. In terms of weight, I can say that it will enhance your gaming performance.

The Google Pixel 8a performs really fast. It also scores higher than the Dimensity 9200+, which comes in the Vivo X90.
It saves more battery than previous Tensor chip, so you can play games or do lots of things at once, and the Pixel 8a handles it and performs well.

The Google Pixel 8a has UFS 3.1 storage, which is great. So, file transfer, copy-pasting, downloading, and taking files from other devices through nearby share work ultra-fast. The Google Pixel 8a has a higher read-write speed compared to the Dimensity 9200+, i.e., Vivo X90.

This is a decent scores for playing BGMI, PUBG at 60 FPS settings. The Pixel 8a can play BGMI with 60 FPS without any frame drops. It works well for moderate to heavy games like Genshin Impact without lag.

Graphics Settings: The table below is given to understand easily how fast and smooth BGMI (PUBG) runs on the Google Pixel 8a. The gyroscope works well and enhances the performance of the Pixel 8a. Due to the 240 Hz touch sampling rate, it gives a good response (firing in-game).
Gameplay: I have played for one hour with smooth + extreme settings and did not feel any lag or heating issues. It gives 58 to 60 FPS continuously during TDM, and 57 to 60 FPS constant gameplay in Erangel, Sanhok, and Livik. After one hour, the battery dropped 15% to 16%, which is good. There was no heat with the highest settings.
Battery 4,492mAh
The battery plays a major role for every gamer. The Google Pixel 8a comes with a 4,492 mAh battery. You can play games non-stop for 3 hours and do any heavy tasks. For normal day-to-day life with social apps, it can last upto 14hrs to 16 hrs.
It comes with 18W charging support and can charge from 0% to 100% in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is worst thing it should be above 40W at this rate it should.
Conclusion
Why you should Buy-
The google pixel 8a gives premium feel, side metal, looks great, gives decent performance, play games at higher settings 7 years of Android Updates and its fabulous google camera,
The Google Pixel 8a is clearly a good choice over other some brands in terms of gaming performance and camera.
Why you should not Buy-
Too high price, Battery capacity is too low, screen size is small and thick bezels, little bit heat and most thing is its 18W charger.
I prefer it to buy Google Pixel 8a on Flipkart BBD sale and Amazon sale.
The iQOO Neo 9 Pro, Motorola Edge 50 Pro and Nothing phone 2 are the best mid range performance centric phones now days for gamers.
I recommend this phone for above casual gaming because at this price, there are some phones that offer higher specs and hardware.
